Since 1998 if you are in the Republic of Ireland, you have had full access to all United Kingdom terrestrial channels via a Sky Digital receiver. This has been great in offering the full range of British entertainment to those in the Republic, however not on-line. The UK BBC iPlayer is on-line available in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

If you try to access the BBC iPlayer website in the Republic or Ireland, it will not allow workable access, just as if you were in France, Spain or any other country that is not the United Kingdom. You may however get around this now via a VPN connection. For those who do not know, a VPN is something that installs easily on any laptop, tablet or smart phone or TV device and allow you internet access to appear as though it is in a different country location. When connected to a UK VPN, you will be able to access BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub and all other British only TV apps in Ireland, or any other country.
